Cancellation of the 2008 Show

Once again we have made the sad decision to cancel Iver Horse Show this year. Unfortunately our secretary has been unwell since Christmas. Although she is now back to full health, none of the usual background work has been done and it is now too late to fit it all in.

We absolutely do NOT want to see Iver Horse Show disappear from the scene, as so many other shows have done over the last few years. However, our committee is now reduced to just two people and neither of us is getting any younger! After the cancellation of last year's show, several people offered their help on the forum, but didn't actually contact us directly. We have received just one offer of help, from one of our regular stewards. Frankly we need more people to help with the background work during the year.

Consequently, we have decided to devote our energies this summer to getting more people onto the committee, so that we can come back next year better than ever. If anyone would like to help us, and lives close enough to come to at least a few committee meetings, please email show.sec@iverhorseshow.co.uk. (N.B. You can still enter the show if you're a committee member)

2008 Show

Hickstead have confirmed the dates of their Jumping Derby as 26th-29th June 2008. This means that we should be able to return to our usual date of the first weekend in July next year. The provisional date for Iver Horse Show will be 5th and 6th July 2008. We will confirm this as soon as we can.

Cancellation of the 2007 Show

It was drawn to our attention at the end of March 2007 that the British Horse Society had announced plans for a 1,000 Horse Cavalcade in Windsor Great Park on 7th July as part of its Diamond Jubilee celebrations. As this is just a few miles away from us, it would obviously have an adverse affect on our show in terms of entries, helpers, trade stands, sponsors, etc. Since we were unable to change the date of the show at such short notice, it was with much regret that we decided that we had no alternative but to cancel it for this year.

The British Horse Society then announced in mid May that they had cancelled their plans for the Cavalcade. Unfortunately it was then too late to reinstate Iver this year.
